Crystal, Colorado

A fresh layer of snow accentuates the golden aspens as the Crystal River bends and falls around an iconic mining building. The Crystal Mill dates from 1892 and was a wooden power house to support the local silver mines in the area. The mill used a water turbine to drive an air compressor for various silver mining activities. This image simultaneously captures the history and natural beauty of Colorado.
